woman getting a dental cleaning

At Generations Dental, we believe routine teeth cleaning and exams are essential, from toddlerhood to the most experienced “generations”. We generally recommend routine dental cleaning and exams every six months, but that may vary depending on your specific dental situation.

When you come for your visit, our hygienists will clean and inspect your gums for any sign of gum disease. Not only is gum disease the leading cause of tooth loss in adults, it can make patients more susceptible to a range of other health problems. Our hygienists are trained to detect, deter, and treat gum disease before a serious issue can arise. We emphasize early detection and treatment in all of our patients. Lastly, if we find anything during your visit that needs further attention, we will discuss your treatment options at that time. Our team will work with you to prevent future dental problems, so check-ups and cleanings down the road will become a breeze.

During your dental exam, we will take x-rays, which are essential for the detection of cavities, tumours, cysts, and bone loss. You will be screened during your examination for oral cancer, gum disease, tooth decay, and any existing issues will be evaluated.

In addition to the exam, your professional dental cleaning is done by one of our Registered Dental Hygienists. Using special dental instruments, they will remove all tartar and plaque, and polish your teeth. They will then finish with a fluoride treatment leaving you with a squeaky clean, healthy smile!
